GENERAL

The 2016-17 season is now in full swing and it’s gearing up to get a whole lot busier for NSW Speedway Sedans Australia classes in the New Year, with a number of titles and blue-ribbon events on the calendar.

It will be an action-packed New Year period for the Street Stocks, who are gearing up to contest their Australian Title at Kingaroy Speedway in Queensland over three huge nights from December 30 to New Year’s Day (January 1). Just two weeks later on January 14, the class will battle it out in the NSW Title at Gilgandra Speedway, in what will be the first state title of the season.

In the first of two blue-ribbon events at Nowra Speedway this season, National 4 Cylinder Sedans will be racing for a $1,000 victory in the Owen Campbell Memorial on January 21, before Super Sedans hit the Nowra Speedway track for their NSW Title on February 18.

The first big hit out for Production Sedans in the New Year will be the coveted Australian Title at Wahgunyah Speedway on January 26-29. March will be a busy month for the class, with three different events scheduled, beginning with their NSW Title at Goulburn Speedway on March 4, before they return to the track on March 25 for the second running of the $3,000 to Win Rocky Hill Royale.

April 1 will see National 4 Cylinder Sedans head to Lismore Speedway for their NSW Title, while Super Sedans will make the long trek west to Attwell Park Speedway in Western Australia where they’ll fight for top honours in the Australian Title on April 14-16.

Following their Australian Title, Super Sedans will be back in action on May 6 for the Long Track Classic at Leeton’s Brobenah Raceway, before Modified Sedans will contest the final NSW Title of the season at Wahgunyah Speedway on May 20.

“The 2016-17 season is really starting to heat up with eight titles and multiple blue-ribbon events scheduled,” commented Speedway Sedans NSW Secretary Benny Taylor.

“It’s great to see these events spread between a number of different tracks throughout NSW, giving drivers more exposure to racing against different competitors on a range of surfaces, as well as bringing more publicity to some of the smaller tracks in NSW.”
