COMPACT SPEEDCARS

Darren Vine is looking to continue his start of season form when he takes to the track to contest this Friday and Saturday night’s Australian Compact Speedcar Title on home soil: Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway.

Having started the 2016-17 season strong, coming away with two feature-race victories in one night while running double duties in Compact Speedcars and Speedcars at Archerfield Speedway, Vine has been hindered by a number of incidences and some bad luck in the past couple of months. However, the defending and seven-time Australian Champion’s confidence remains intact despite the complications, with his sights set on the upcoming Australian Title, where he will compete solely in his turbo-powered Aus # 1 Mike Vine Turbos supported machine.

“I’m very much looking forward to contesting the Australian Title and hopefully being able to put the last couple of months behind me by coming away with a winning result,” commented Vine, who has won the last four Australian Titles consecutively aboard his non-turbo powered car, with two of his seven wins taking place at the Archerfield Speedway track back in 1999 and 2014.

“The competition is quite fierce at the moment and I’ve never seen Compact Speedcars in better shape in terms of driver talent. I think it’ll be vital to qualify in the first three rows for the feature race in order to give yourself the best possible chance of winning.”

While Vine believes that sharing the Australian Title program with Speedcars will be a positive thing for the Compact Speedcars in terms of track preparation, not running double duties will allow the veteran racer to focus completely on the task at hand.

The format for the biggest event on the Compact Speedcar calendar will see drivers contest three rounds of heat races on the opening night of the Australian Title, while Saturday night’s action will include a fourth and final round of heat races and then the $1,000 to win 30-lap Australian Title-deciding feature race.

Vine would like to thank the following 2016-17 season sponsors for their support: Mike Vine Turbos, Men at Work Exhausts, and Mobile Injector Services.
