SUPER RODS

The Super Rod Association held their annual presentation dinner on Saturday in Geelong at the Grovedale Hotel.

The night featured Gavin White as MC, who presented a short history of four Super Rod drivers from within the class with 98 combined years of racing between them. Those drivers were Ewan McKenzie with a total of 17 years, which included an 18-year gap, Darryl Nelson with 32 years, Howard Stansfield with 26 years and George Woolstencroft with 23 years of racing.

President Neil Podger also read a history on the racing of Portland’s Bill Campbell, for whom the class holds a memorial each year at Portland’s Southern 500 raceway.

In the Super Rod Aggregate it was Lancefield's Shaun Walsh who topped the point score with 1292 points, ahead of Inverleigh's Corey Deglaitis in second on 1088 points and Cobden's Leigh Podger in third with 927 points.
