For the third occasion in his career and the second season in a row, Dave Gartner has finished in the runner-up spot for the National Super Sedan Title.

Gartner’s latest National Title runner-up finish came over the weekend at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway in Western Australia for the 2016-17 season running of the event.

Despite the obvious disappointment of being so close yet so far from a National Title win to add to his previous two in the Street Stock class, Gartner was quite satisfied to finish behind winner Darren Kane.

For Gartner, up until the National Title-deciding feature race, he and the team had struggled and therefore started the feature race out of position 11. With nothing to lose and all to gain, the team chanced their arm with the setup of the SA # 8 GT Bobcat supported Dominator car and it paid dividends.

“Our weekend up until the feature race was a tough one, but we got going in the feature race and came away with a solid result,” Gartner said.

“My team worked very hard on improving the car throughout the weekend and it was pleasing to be able to reward them with a second-place finish, especially considering that we’ve completed less than half-a-dozen race meetings this season.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed to miss out on another National Title win; however, I can take a lot of satisfaction out of how far we progressed from the beginning of the weekend to the end.”
