One week into his US racing campaign, Daniel Keen managed to exceed expectations last Saturday night, driving to an impressive podium result in the Pit Stop USA Winged 360s main event at Petaluma Speedway in California.

Having had varied results in the handful of race meetings he’d previously contested since touching down in America at the end of June, Daniel and his family couldn’t have been happier to have achieved their best result yet aboard his ex-Rico Abreu-owned Aus # 16 machine, which is powered by an ex-Brian Brown engine, greeting the chequered flag in a pleasing third.

“Racing in America has been a massive learning curve for us, so to be able to make it on to the podium after only a week is a pleasing result,” expressed Keen.

“We’ve had a fairly tough run throughout our first week, as we’ve been trying to adapt to the unfamiliar tracks and the American style of racing, so this result certainly gives us a huge confidence boost for the remainder of our campaign.”

Daniel’s younger brother Michael also showed promising pace during the main event, having led the race for a number of laps, before unfortunately being forced to pull into the infield, after losing brakes in the USA # 5V car, owned by California residents Jim and Annette Vanlare.

For their next appearance, the Keens Race Team will contest the Northwest Speedweek Series, which comprises of six rounds over six consecutive nights, the first of which will take place at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in California, with the remaining five rounds to take place at tracks throughout Oregon.

Keens Race Team would like to thank the following sponsors for supporting their maiden American racing tour: Dynamite Dan’s Cleaning Services, Keens Driver Training, Keenquip Race Gear, United Oil, Monster Graphics, and D&R Machining.
